Savuton Nikotiiniala ry – Finlands Nikotinbranch rf – Finnish Nicotine Industry Association’s
members of the board and employees, to promote the association’s purpose, primarily engages
in the following activities, as well as other similar forms of action:
•
Raising awareness about tobacco-free nicotine pouches.
•
Taking an active role in the development of regulations concerning the end market of
tobacco-free nicotine pouches.
•
Promoting favorable competitive conditions and a fair level of taxation for tobacco-free
nicotine pouches in comparison to tobacco-containing products.
•
Supporting fair competition between manufacturers and retailers in accordance with
legislation governing the end market.
•
Promoting the dissemination of accurate consumer information, high product quality,
and consumer well-being.
•
Advancing manufacturers’ freedom to innovate and develop products in accordance
with legislation applicable to the end market.
Guidelines for meetings with competitors
Manufacturers are competitors and therefore it is important that the association, Savuton
Nikotiiniala ry (SNA), comply with the competition law at all meetings. The competition law
prohibits any anti-competitive agreements or understandings between competitors.
Disclosing commercially sensitive information can in itself breach the rules, for both the
provider of the information and the recipients. The guiding principle is that nothing which is
commercially confidential or otherwise competitively sensitive should be disclosed or discussed.
This includes information on e.g.: pricing, terms and conditions, output/volume, commercial
strategies (e.g. business plans, innovations, product launches), customer/supplier information,
sales/distribution practices, costs, financial positions, the impact of particular issues on a
company’s business or how it intends to address them, and anything else you would not usually
share with a competitor.
In particular, all meeting participants should be conscious not to disclose any information that
could directly or indirectly indicate their commercial plans, and there shall be no general
discussions of prices or strategy.
If you are concerned whether it is permissible to disclose or discuss an issue, you are obliged to
raise this. Each meeting participant is reminded to abide by their competition law obligations
and by attending this meeting confirms their intention to do so. Discussions at this meeting will
be strictly limited to the topics of the agenda, which have been circulated to the meeting
participants in advance. The agenda may be reviewed by each participant’s legal team.
Minutes and lists of meeting participants will be conducted by the Chief Executive Director of
Savuton Nikotiiniala ry, and signed by the chair or the vice chair of the board. The minutes will
be available to all members after each meeting.
